Label

The label is called ‘One4Ho’. The origins of it’s name came from a seminal summer in Berlin, where Sophie Ruston (Ghettozoid) and Mai Harper (label founders) first laid eyes on each other. The name One4Ho incorporates Ghettozoid’s obsession with Miami Bass. Essentially we are ladies that love the 140!!!

The label will primarily explore and release music of a 140bpm tempo. It also uniquely put together by females (or replicants as some like to be described as) in the industry of creative arts, bringing together a unique feminine touch. Logo design by Milk aka Gwen Liby and Lizzie Eve (photographer extroadinaire – see her work on the cover of albums by Pinch, 2562 and a bunch more) covering the photography. The music on the label will be diverse in it’s artists, showcasing new rising talent in dubstep and electronic music as well as paying homage to our favourite innovators .

Silverman 002 release reviewed in Brighton’s ‘Source’ mag:

August 4th, 2010

And what a lovely review:

SINGLE: SILVERMAN • Can’t Stand The Rain (One4Ho Records)
As with most things, the most interesting things happening in the monolith of a genre that is dubstep are happening at the fringes. Where dubstep meets semi-techy electronica is where Silverman is honing his shadowy, sinister Bladerunner-esque beats. Using the mournful vocal and drip-drop sample from Ann Peebles’ track of the same name, the wobble in ‘Can’t Stand The Rain’ sounds like a massive industrial turbine in some torrential dystopian deluge. Dark, heavy and relentless. (MJ)

Amazing review of forthcoming Silverman release O4H002

July 31st, 2010

Thanks to the ‘Kaptain’ of Chrome Kids blog for this one:

‘first heard the Silverman track Can’t Stand The Rain at Pinch’sDubloaded night in Bristol a few months back. Ghettozoid was spinning it and I remember getting lost inside its rolling tribal drums, warm electronic mist and melancholy Peebles sample. These days it’s rare that I’ll ask about a certain tune or I’d be hassling the DJ all night but this one I had to know. Ironically it was to be due for release on Ghettozoid’s newly launched One4Ho label and now here it is.

This tune has been receiving play from the likes of Falty DLStarkeyand Clark, who also provides a soul crunching remix that seems to flip the original track’s concept of memory, love and loss into a 3 and a half minute masterpiece of dream like emotional manipulation.’
